WHO ARE WE?
Military Outreach Ministry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian organization that exists to provide support to young enlisted families of all faiths (E5 and below) at Camp Pendleton. We would like to lend a helping hand to the families that sacrifice so much for our freedom through their service.
OUR HISTORY
Military Outreach began during World War II, near military installations around the country. In 1968 the Presbytery of San Diego began administering this program locally. In November 2005, the Presbytery divided the program into two divisions to cover the vast need in San Diego County. Military Outreach Ministry Camp Pendleton and Military Outreach Ministries San Diego are the only two remaining of the original program started during WWII.
HOW WE SERVE
The program provides for physical and emotional support to those families that need it most. The need for assistance still exists in San Diego County due to the cost of living being higher than the national average. This, coupled with the cost of setting up a new household, having a child or the expense of moving often can put these lower ranking young families in a financial bind.
In reaching out to these young military families we provide not only for their physical support but emotionally and spiritually as well. All of our clients are assisted by Christian volunteers who show God’s love through their servant’s heart. We deliver groceries and other items directly to the car, offering our thanks and prayers for their families.
“I give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other as I have loved you. All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other.”
John 13:34-35
MINISTRY PARTNERS
In partnering with other agencies we are able to provide more services to those in need. Mothers and young children benefit from our partnership with Women’s Christian Fellowship to provide a weekly program that includes child care and a spiritually based curriculum. Military Outreach Ministry provides young mothers with in-home assistance during their post-pregnancy recovery through referrals from New Parent Support. Area churches work with us to provide military children with transportation and tuition to summer camps and Vacation Bible schools.
GETTING INVOLVED
The foundation of this ministry is its volunteers and loyal supporters. Here are a few ways you can support our efforts on Camp Pendleton.
